Travel Safe….Be Prepared

Travel Leaders is encouraging its clients to take common-sense precautions to help prevent the spread of Swine Flu and other viruses.

- Check if your health insurance plan will cover you abroad. Consider purchasing additional insurance that covers medical evacuation in case you become sick.

- Be sure you are up-to-date with all your routine vaccinations, including seasonal influenza vaccine if available. Consider seeing a travel medicine specialist or a doctor familiar with travel medicine at least 4–6 weeks before your international departure.

- Pack a travel health kit that contains basic first aid and medical supplies.

- Identify health-care resources in the area(s) you will be visiting.

- Wash hands frequently, cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and contact local health officials if you – or someone you come in contact with – begin to exhibit flu-like symptoms.
